Programs & Classrooms

St. Stephen’s Preschool offers seven different programs in five classrooms for ages two through Pre K (four year olds).  The classrooms are color coded to reflect the different programs.  Each class has two teachers - either a lead teacher with assistant teacher format or a co-teacher format.  Each classroom is set up in play areas or centers such as book corner, housekeeping/dress-up, creation station/writing center, manipulatives, sensory table, blocks, cars/trucks, floor toys, arts and crafts table, etc.  Each classroom has bathroom facilities and sinks so that no child needs to leave the classroom for toileting.

Outside of each classroom are pegs for children to hang up their coats and back packs.  Informa
tion for parents is posted outside of the classroom as well as the daily schedule.  Children’s artwork and projects are displayed in the hallway windows for all to enjoy.

Both two year old programs, the 2 day and the 3 day, meet in the Purple Room.  The 2 day class has 10 children and the 3 day class has 12 children, both with two teachers (lead teacher and assistant teacher). The 2 day 2 year old class consists of the younger two year olds that attend Tuesdays and Thursdays.  The older twos, the 3 day 2 year olds, meet Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The older twos must turn two on or before April 1, 2011.

The Blue Room is the classroom for the 2 day 3 year olds (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and the 3 day 3 year olds (Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays).  Two teachers co-teach in this classroom.

The 4 day 3 year old class (Monday through Thursday), the Yellow Room, has 12 children and two teachers (lead teacher and assistant teacher).

Two Pre K (four year old) classes are offered.  All the children in the green room attend 4 days, Monday through Thursday.  The children in the red room may attend 4 days (Monday through Thursday) or 5 days (Monday through Friday).  Each class has 16 children and two teachers (lead teacher and assistant teacher).
