The preschool program complies with nationally recognized standards for early childhood education. The curriculum throughout all ages and classes is a thematically, play-based program. Topics of interest to children, called themes, serve as the foundation for providing fun and interesting activities for children. Examples of themes are “All About Me”, “Farm and Farm Animals”, “Pets”, “Changes in Autumn”, etc. Activities for children can be child-directed, teacher-directed or a combination of both. In addition, the Pre K (four year old) classes
incorporate two Pre K programs, Handwriting Without Tears and Everyday in Pre K:Math into the
curriculum. This diversity of experience provides a solid foundation for Kindergarten Readiness. To see whats been happening lately, check out our September, October, November, January, February, March, and April Classroom Notes.
In addition to the classroom activities, music and creative movement are offered once per week for each class. Other enrichment opportunities for the children include plays, guest speakers and school wide events. The Christian holidays are celebrated, Grace is said before snack and Preschool Chapel is conducted regularly for the three year olds and Pre K classes.
